Joy School!
Today we had a lesson on Weather/rain/rainbows/seasons. We turned the living room into a sky-city with blue blankets for the sky, and white pillows for clouds, and a yellow blanket for the sun. I gave them all little rain-noise makers so they could make rain and pretend to be water up in the sky. We took turns wrapping one of the kids in the yellow blanket with a flashlight to be the sun, and then had others take turns being the earth and learned about seasons (facing the sun = summer, side to the sun = fall/spring, back to the sun = winter... as they orbited around). We boiled water to make steam clouds and learned about the water cycle. Made jello out of the boiling water, put it in the freezer to see what happens to liquid when you cool it. The practiced their colors while making rainbows. We mixed playdough colors together and talked about how the light outside is kind of like a bunch of colors all mixed together like the playdough - that if you can un-mix the colors with a prism/raindrop, you get a rainbow! We read a little book about rainbows. We also had a cloud craft - blue paper with cotton balls making cloud animals with the cotton - like when you look into the sky and see the different shapes the clouds make. We had fun! The house is trashed!!!!

Last Day of Spring Break

how does your garden grow?
James got sick last night (the pukes) so we slept in a little this morning. It’s so nice outside, went for the season’s first dip in the pool (just a little dip, it was still cold). Working on what will be the garden some more – hauling rocks. There is now a little stone path up to the gate, and some stepping stones inside of it. Did a little yard work in the back yard. The back has been turning into greenbelt territory!
Below - poor Koi is now fensed out of her digging corner :(.

swimming season has now begun! Poor little James came out too even though he isn't feeling good. Getting out in the fresh air, vitD, laying out in the sun hopefully did him some good.

Saturday March 13th
Started the day with an early morning jog with Koi. Night vision photography: Doug and Autumn. So nice to have daddy back home again!!!!

Pic-nic in the front yard while I did a little yard work.

Eat your heart out HOA – the flowers beds are now cleaned out… Yes, I know, trash in public view. There's just no pleasing you people!!!!

So Doug and Heather came back from their daddy daughter outing (each Saturday he takes one of the kids out for the morning) with a new fence. When he said he got a fence, I thought he was just getting some wooden slats to fix the back fence – but what they really got was a little wrought-iron fence so I can have a garden. Our new dog saw me digging in the garden corner, and she started digging over there too, and the garden went downhill. This little fence will hopefully keep the dog out, and the little rabbits etc. etc. out too. I have a few flagstones leftover from when we did the MB porch that I will use to make a little rock path in it with, put a couple of planters by the front gate, possibly even put a little bench at the back – try and make it extra cute. The following picts the fence is not even in yet – just propped up – so you’ll have to use your imagination. I’ll update picts as the garden gets finished and starts to grow! What should we plant?

The days grand finale - watching Alice in Wonderland at the Movie Tavern. What a wonderful Saturday!
